Guide to Vietnamese Silk Lantern Sizes
With such a wide range, choosing the right size can be a bit like finding the perfect piece of a puzzle. Don't worry; we've got you covered!
10 cm and 20 cm Silk Lanterns
Our 10 cm lanterns are tiny, lightweight wonders that fit snugly in one hand. Perfect for delicate fairy lights, they make for charming and thoughtful gifts. These lanterns do not flat pack and measure approximately 18 x 18 cm (top to tail including steel handle) with 5 cm length tassel.
Meanwhile, the 20 cm lanterns with 10 cm tassel, are double the size when opened and come flat-pack. These serve as excellent fillers between larger sizes, seamlessly blending colours together. These sizes are only available in Balloon and Round shapes.
Moving up the scale, below is an example of silk lanterns in sizes 10 cm, 20 cm, 30 cm, 35 cm, 40 cm (with measuring tape) and 45 cm. We measure our lanterns when closed, from top to tail:
30 cm to 45 cm Lanterns
Our 30 cm lanterns have tassels ~25 cm in length and are fantastic for string light decorations with 10 lanterns for a 5 meter string light or 20 lanterns for a 10 meter string light arrangement using 3W, 5W or 7W lightbulbs with a diameter of 27mm.
35 cm lanterns also fit on string lights but bear in mind, a slightly larger and heavier build. For a straight line and extra support we recommend using steel cable with your string lights to avoid a dip from the weight or for more permanent setups where there may be strong winds.
The 40 cm and 45 cm silk lanterns have ~35 cm long tassels and work beautifully as pairs, whether adorning bedside tables, above a dining room table or brightening up patios and balconies. These lanterns have a wider neck meaning you can use a string light with a larger lightbulb.
Making a Statement: 60 cm and 80 cm Lanterns
Stepping into the larger sizes, our 60 cm and 80 cm silk lanterns serve as striking centre pieces. These large lanterns are great for adding your business logo, get in touch for personalised hand painted lanterns. To provide you with a glimpse of their size, our 80 cm lantern boasts a circumference of 1.8 meters!
1.3 Meter Lanterns
Reserved for grand events, our 1.3 meter Vietnamese lanterns are made with steel and designed to make a statement. Perfect for large festivals or events catering to expansive crowds, these silk lanterns, such as the one designed for a full moon party, create an awe-inspiring visual spectacle.
